Dear Future Husband

In honor of Valentine’s Day 2021, I thought I’d make this post.

•••

Dear Future Husband,

I wrote one of these last year. I don’t even remember what was said. But I hope this one finds you well. Don’t worry, I’ll save it. ☺️

I pray for you nearly every day, if not in my journal, in my head as I drive down the road. I used to pray to meet you soon, begging God for you to be in my life. These days I pray that He strengthens you, guides you, reminds you of His love, and brings you joy daily. I know one day I’ll meet you and be blown away by your faith and love for the Lord.

Maya Angelou once said, “A women’s heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him to find her.” I hope and pray that that is the kind of relationship we have— one that is constantly seeking Christ and Christ-centered. I also pray that that is the kind of women I can be. So many of my friends say that I am a Women of God but sometimes I don’t feel like it. We all sin and fall short. Just know that I try to be as I expect you do as well—try.

I pray we laugh often and cry little. By now I’m sure you have uncovered my love for corny dad jokes and sarcasm.

I hope for a fairytale, as anyone would, but marriage will come with challenges and we need not to be surprised if I slam a door or you walk off from an argument. However, I pray that we handle those things civilly and talk rather than yell. We can’t expect the other to be perfect. The only one who’s perfect is Jesus and we need to remember that though we strive to be like Him we are not Him.

I pray you understand me and I you. I pray we love, laugh, pray, and read scripture together daily— as much as needed. I also pray that we don’t do valentines gifts as men are hard to shop for. I’ll get you cologne and you can get me flowers. I think that’s fair. 😂

Know that you are already so loved and so cherished.

💛emily
