Over half of people with mental health issues never seek treatment. That's a staggering about of people. Currently, the number of people struggling is estimated to be one in four. Given the pandemic we are in, it is said that suicide rates have gone up.
Anthem of Hope
In 2016, Pastor Jarrid Wilson saw a need to help people dealing with mental health issues. Jarrid's battles didn't stop him from his passions. The pastor started a nonprofit four years ago called Anthem of Hope. The mission? To provide resources for those struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, addiction, and suicidal thoughts. His nonprofit still rings loud with its mission today.
In the week of his death, Jarrid wrote, “Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure suicidal thoughts. Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure depression. Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure PTSD. Loving Jesus doesn’t always cure anxiety. But that doesn’t mean Jesus doesn’t offer us companionship and comfort. He ALWAYS does that.”
Anthem of Hope is now being run by Jarrid's wife, Juli, and his brother and sister, Christian and Kaylie. They are currently working on additional resources to advance their message #YourLifeMatters.
Trevor Tyson Reflects
In an article on FaithWire and CCM Magazine, mental health advocate, speaker, and podcaster, Trevor Tyson reflected on his relationship with Jarrid.
"I was blessed to know Jarrid through his work in mental health. As a young guy getting started out in ministry, it was hard for me to find someone who understood me. Jarrid was that guy for me," Trevor said. "I’m truly grateful for the words, hope, and effort he poured into helping me and countless others like me become who we are today."
Trevor believes Jarrid would be thrilled with how well Anthem of Hope is doing.
