"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6
One day, while driving on the highway, I looked up into the sky. My eyes had been caught by a group of birds weaving in and out of the clouds that made the day gloomy. I couldn't help but think of how majestic they were. Like a symphony, they'd fly up into the sky and disappear, only to return nanoseconds later and then, again, disappear. While watching, I noticed one bird fly off, lower than the rest. Birds are miraculous this way. Instead of flying off and continuing their ballet, they all stopped and flew down to collect their abandoned friend. Just as Jesus has done for us. Just as a shepherd has done for his sheep.
Sheep are good at staying together. When one wonders off, the shepherd can trust that they will stay put, in their herd, while he goes to retrieve and or rescue the straggler. Jesus trusts us that we will be accountable for one another as He goes to help someone in need. That is why He is called the shepherd. Mush like a real shepherd who looks after his sheep, Jesus looks after us. He feeds us, protects us, finds us, and waters us. We trust Him just as sheep trust their shepherd. We trust that He will never leave or forsake us. We trust that He will protect us and love us, that He will always be there for us. He gave us life. He knows us; more than we know ourselves, might I add. He guides us and is our rest.
That is why I chose the verse above, Deuteronomy 31:6. It is a reminder of that promise. The Lord says, "You will cry for help and I will say 'here I am'." (Isaiah 58:9)
Alright, that's it for me! With these words and thoughts, I leave you. See you soon!!
And remember, always stay humble and kind.
